Elsewhere on the piece, Royal Crown Derby has used a lesser-known version of the pattern which has elaborate red florals and pointed wispy gold leaves. The leaf detail has been used to depict the dog's fur and ears, creating a sense of athleticism and alertness, traditional attributes of the ultimate country dwellers companion.

Cobalt blue and iron red are delicately used throughout, subtly highlighting features such as the dog's eyes and coat stitching. These vibrant colours when combined with the hand applied 22ct gold create the visual drama that is synonymous with the historic Solid Gold Band pattern.
