Elsewhere on the piece, Carmen has delved into the Royal Crown Derby archive and has used a lesser known version of the pattern which has elaborate red florals and pointed wispy gold leaves.

The leaf detail has been used to depict the dogs fur and ears, creating a sense of athleticism and alertness, traditional attributes of the ultimate country dwellers companion. Cobalt blue and iron red are delicately used throughout, subtly highlighting features such as the dogs eyes and coat stitching.
