A stunning example of the Royal Crown Derby Hippopotamus paperweight in the iconic Imari palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and 22-carat gold. This heavy, substantial piece was designed by the renowned John Ablitt and features intricate "scale" and floral detailing across the body.

This particular piece is a First Quality specimen, confirmed by the original Gold Stopper to the base. It is dated MMIV (2004) and remains in pristine, cabinet-displayed condition with no chips, cracks, or wear to the heavy gilding.

Complete Set: Includes the original Royal Crown Derby navy blue presentation box. Authentic Markings: Fully backstamped with the Royal Crown Derby logo and hand-painted decorator marks (Gilder: HL). The gold is bright and sharp with no fading or rubbing. As new, received as gift and has been retained in original packaging/box. As photographed, having a clear-out prior to house move.
